Well, it Happened. The Mayor Called.

And he had something to say about this weekly newsletter which is everything you need to know about Apex, NC emailed to you every Thursday morning at 6am.

👋 Good morning, Apex NC! Today is January 23, 2025 and this is the third weekly issue of The Peak Weekly.

In previous emails, I have mentioned that this newsletter is not affiliated with nor endorsed by the Town of Apex.

But now… I think it’s kind of endorsed…

A few days ago, I was standing in line at the grocery store when my phone buzzed. I look at my phone, expecting it to be the daily text I get from my kids asking for Robux, but no… it's Mayor Gilbert. And he wants to chat.

Don’t worry. I wasn’t nervous at all. 🤥

Here’s the transcript:

“Hello Adam. ‘The Peak Weekly’ is epic. Great job…”

- Mayor Jacques Gilbert

“Oh, uhm… thank. I’m. You’re good too.”

- Me, not socially awkward at all

“This is good for Apex and I encourage people to follow it.”

- Mayor Jacques Gilbert

The reason I share this with you is A.) to brag about it, and B.) just to reiterate that, in fact, we are not affiliated nor endorsed by the Town of Apex. But the Mayor did reach out and offered very kind words of encouragement and support.

While I’m not a journalist by any means, I will always continue to share information with you as impartially and objectively as possible. But it was great to get hyped up by him and it was very clear to me that Mayor Gilbert truly supports communication and transparency with the people of Apex.

ANYWAY, let’s get to it. Here is what’s inside today:

👨‍💻 There’s a New Tool in Town and it’s Me!
As you know, there are a lot of development projects going on in town. And, as you may or may not know, the Town has an interactive development dashboard on their website, which you can see here.

In my opinion, this tool looks pretty but isn’t exactly easy to navigate. So, I have been building a new tool to display all of the developments in Apex in a way that I hope is a bit more intuitive.

I did have one newsletter subscriber take this for a test run (thanks, Chris! 💪) but now it’s your turn! Note: this is still a work-in-progress and may have some flaws but before going any further on it, I’d love your feedback on if you’d find a tool like this useful, or if the town’s dashboard is good enough.

Local Business

A Quick Note:
As I do my best to discover, collect, and consolidate the best information around Apex, one key feature that I really love is featuring new businesses in Apex.

This, however, has proven to be a bit difficult. For the initial two newsletters, I was able to discover some new businesses by searching around Google and social media, but I’m sure I am missing some.

For this week, I haven’t been able to find any.

I do have an email out to the Economic Development team hoping for some assistance there, but haven’t heard anything back yet.

Anyway, I will keep working on that. In the meantime, here’s a brief recap of the new local business info from the last two emails:

A Huenique Barbership & Parlour, 100 Chatham St.

Sabatino’s Italian Restaurant, 1001 Davis Dr.

The Cranky Yankee, 101 N Salem St.

Bear Hands Gifts, Workshop, and Studio, 305 S Salem St.

North Left, 117 N. Salem St.

*IONNA Rechargery, 400 N Salem St.

*Note: A friendly subscriber (thanks, Diane! 🕺) has informed me that this place is much more than just a charging station:

“I haven't been back since their pre-open load test for the charge stations, but it is not just for EV owners. They have additional parking, a coffee bar, and prepared sandwiches and desserts. They have tables where customers had laptops to work or surf, and two bathrooms. It's small, but has possibilities.”

Just in Case You Missed it

Here are some things we have talked about in previous issues, but are worth mentioning again just in case you missed it:

🦫 Beaver Creek Greenway Corridor
This project, which extends the greenway from Kelly Road Park to the Nature Park, has resumed construction and is on track and set to be completed by Fall.

🌳 Plant the Peak
Plant the Peak is a program designed to increase our overall tree canopy by providing professional installation of native trees on residential single family properties within Apex’s corporate limits, at no cost to the owner or tenant of the property. Apply for the Plant the Peak program and get your free tree!

A Final Note

Thank you for reading The Peak Weekly today.

In full transparency, putting this email together takes a lot of time. Quite a few hours go into each of these. But in a short period of time, I have been able to meet some new people, have received a lot of really nice feedback via email and social media, and hopefully have provided some positive impact to the people, businesses (and pets!) in Apex.

We sent Email #1 to 77 subscribers, Email #2 to 900 subscribers and this email, #3, just hit the inboxes of 1,416 subscribers. That’s 1,739% growth in just two weeks for my math nerds.

So, if you made it this far, you have to share this newsletter on social media to help continue this impressive growth. That’s just the rules. Share link: https://www.thepeakweekly.com/subscribe

If you have any feedback, ideas, or any other thoughts on how to make this newsletter better, please reply to this email or email me directly at [email protected]

See you next Thursday. 😘
