Lots of stuff to share today so I’ll keep the intro short.
But I do want to say this: 🎈 Happy Birthday (tomorrow) to my amazing wife, Katie. 🥳
Don’t be mad, but I did venture a little bit outside of Apex for birthday dinner reservations at Doc B’s (Cary) and a lemon bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes (Holly Springs).
It’s ok to show some love to our neighbors too, right?!
Ok, now let’s get to it…

Civil News:
💡 Utility Billing Update
According to the Town’s update on May 30, there have been just 35 total requests for utility account reviews. As a reminder, the results from the third-party review determined that 100% of accounts were billed incorrectly. Despite knowing that they have over-billed some of you, and having the fiscal responsibility to collect on those under-billed, the council has voted (against the Mayor’s wishes) to not resolve any more accounts voluntarily. You must jump through their hoops to request it. Meanwhile, only about 0.1% have done so. I am one of those people, and I’ll report the results of my review whenever I receive it.
→ To request a review of your utility bill, you can fill out this form online, call (919) 249-3311, or visit Town Hall.
Last Friday, the Mayor released a statement calling for additional action related to the cybersecurity incident which you can read here.
💰️ FY25-26 Budget Adopted
The Apex Town Council unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Budget Ordinance at their May 27th regular meeting. View the official budget document here. Wake County has just adopted their budget as well.
🚰 Water Quality Annual Report
The annual water quality report is now available, providing detailed information about the safety and quality of Apex drinking water. View the report here.
🪫 EV Charging Stations Now Charging Usage Fees
As of Monday, June 2, the Town-owned EV charging stations at Town Hall, Mason Street Municipal Building, and Saunders Lot (once they return following construction) have started charging usage fees of 20 cents per kWh for use.
🛒 New Hill Commons Grocery Store
New Hill Commons will be a 55-acre mixed-use development at New Hill Olive Chapel & Old US1 with 110 single-family homes and grocery-anchored retail. The grocery store was just approved during the 5/27 Town Council meeting, though we don’t know which grocery store it will be just yet.
🚑️ New EMS Station Grand Opening
The EMS Apex Main Station Project is complete and Wake County EMS celebrated with a grand opening last week. It is located at 6950 Apex Barbecue Road.
