👋 Good Morning, Apex! Today is Thursday, May 14, 2026 and this is the 71st consecutive weekly issue of The Peak Weekly.
Twenty-eight years ago today, the series finale of Seinfeld aired. Fun fact about me: I have never seen that show in my life.
Another fun fact about me: I have been working tirelessly for months on something new. It’s called… The Peak Daily.
I’ve teased this before, but it’s getting close to launch day. Very close…

Rendering of the Park View & What’s on Tap View
I don’t have an exact date of when it will be available for download in the App Store. I’m wrapping up testing right now and then will submit it in a few days. Could be a few days or another week or two after that once it gets approved.
Here’s what will be in it day 1:
Events and things to do each day
Important alerts via Town News Flash
A searchable map of all Apex businesses with special deals and events
A searchable map of all parks and their amenities
Interactive map of active development projects and latest development filings
Commute planning and live street cameras
High school sports scores and schedules
GoApex Transit Map
Daily map of food trucks
Daily list of what’s on tap at local breweries
Push notifications when it’s trash day
Push notifications of any utility outages
A flight radar of what’s overhead
Town Council meeting recaps
Searchable restaurant health inspections
School calendars and events
An ask-me-anything chat where you type your Apex related questions and get instant answers
Customizable push notifications
And much more to come
I will let you know as soon as it’s available. And if you have any other feature ideas, let me know!

🚜 The Peak Weekly Farm Series (Part 7)

🐴 The Mother Ranch
This article was written by The Peak Weekly’s amazing content contributor, Susan McGrath
The Mother Ranch, owned by Julia MacMonagle, is located on Friendship Road in Apex. It’s a small, unique, woman-owned farm and creative sanctuary focused on healing, creativity, and connection—with animals, nature, and self. Julia blends art, mindfulness, and animal presence into experiences that are gentle, reflective, and intentionally small-scale.

Services offered at The Mother Ranch include:
Women’s Circles: in person, combining meditation, art-making, and meaningful conversations
Art classes and creative workshops: one monthly live online freebie art class and an online Monday evening women’s art group. All classes are watercolor, mixed media, and intuitive art. Custom groups are welcome either online or in-person!
Equine-partnered coaching by appointment, no riding; gentle, guided experiences with ponies and mini donkeys focused on self-awareness and growth
Neurofeedback sessions (by appointment)
Reiki sessions (by appointment)
Seasonal special events, such as meditations at the ranch, creative immersions, yoga classes, and sound baths
Animal interactions are quiet and respectful—participants may spend time with ponies, mini donkeys, and goats, as part of guided experiences rather than petting-zoo-style visits.

The Mother Ranch offers products for sale as well, including original artwork, prints and small art offerings, and occasional digital classes (announced via newsletter).
The best way to stay informed about current news and new offerings is to subscribe to The Mother Ranch newsletter, which publishes every Saturday morning, here: https://www.themotherranch.com/subscribe.
The Mother Ranch is also open to collaborations! If you’re looking for a small, intimate farm setting for your gatherings, reach out at [email protected].
Julia is also active on Nextdoor under Julia MacMonagle and on Facebook under Julia Johnson MacMonagle. Many offerings are seasonal or offered in small batches, so advance registration is encouraged.
The Mother Ranch is open year-round, but drop-in visits are not allowed due to the confidentiality of Julia’s work. All experiences are offered by appointment or registration for events, and the property address is shared privately upon appointment or registration for events.

The Mother Ranch contact info:

If you’re looking for a peaceful and supportive setting to make meaningful connections with both animals and people, The Mother Ranch is that place.

Civic News:
🙋 Ask Randy Vosburg Anything
This Saturday, Town Manager Vosburg will be at the Apex Farmer’s Market hosting a “Ask Me Anything” meet-up from 9am-11am.
If you want to ask a question but aren’t sure what - here are some prompts:
What is your favorite color?
Why did you sign an NDA with a private company, hide their identity, and agree to destroy public records upon their request?
Why do no public record destruction logs exist in the following departments: Town Manager’s Office, Town Attorney’s Office, Information Technology, Electric Utilities, Finance, Budget and Performance Management, Economic Development, Human Resources, Planning, Parks & Recreation
With several data centers getting approved in Stafford County, VA while you were the County Administrator, why did you feel it was appropriate to lead an internal movement to modify the Town’s UDO with data center regulations, while in discussions for many months with a pending data center applicant?
Why did you commit tax payer money to NC Children’s Hospital months prior to any public discussion, public forum, or council vote in public?
Why is the public records process such a disaster? For example, the Peak Weekly guy has several requests out with one very simple request as old as 114 days with no response.
How is the budget about to be approved but the audited financials are many months overdue?
Why, with all of these questions outstanding, is the Town putting so much effort into Miss Annie providing parking to students, and now demanding $1000 from her?
Those are just some questions I have been trying to get answered. But of course, feel free to ask your own!
🤝 North Carolina Budget Deal
The State of North Carolina, the only state to yet pass a budget, is one step closer to finally doing so as House Speaker Destin Hall and Senate leader Phil Berger. announced an agreed framework on Tuesday. The framework includes about $208M for the development of the NC Children’s Hospital in Apex. Note: this would be a big deal for the hospital, but it has not yet been finalized.
💰️ Town of Apex Budget & Financials
The Town of Apex is getting closer on finalizing its FY26-27 budget. However, the Town’s Audited Financials, which need to be completed in order to pass a budget, have yet to be completed. This marks the 4th year in a row that the Town of Apex is late on its audit.
