🥳 Happy Indiana Day, Apex!
That’s probably a horrible way to start a hyper-local North Carolina newsletter but it’s true… today is the legal holiday, Indiana Day, which commemorates the state’s 1816 admission to the union (a mere 127 years after NC).
Though, I might argue that this past Saturday was Indiana Day because how about them IU Football Hoosiers knocking off Ohio State to end the season #1 in the nation?!
What a proud time it is for me to be an official IU dropout!
Sorry - just had to brag. Never in my lifetime did I think that IU Football would be #1 in the Nation.
Now that I got that out of my system, I’ll start over…
👋 Good Morning, Apex! Today is Thursday, December 11, 2025 and this is the 49th consecutive weekly issue of The Peak Weekly.
There are less than 20 days left of 2025, zero Town Council Meetings and only 2 more Peak Weeklys until 2026.
Right now, I’m working on a pretty interesting story. I’ll share it with you in the first 2026 Peak Weekly edition.
Sorry for the teaser. Let me make it up to you with a vicious rumor.
I have it on good authority that Vicious Fishes will be reopening soon. Not just the Apex one, but the Fuquay one too. New ownership group. Maybe rebranding, maybe not. And it may even happen in 2025.
Not 100% set in stone. So don’t yell at me if it doesn’t happen. But it’s sounding like it might. I’ll let you know as soon as I know more.
Now here’s some stuff I know for sure:

Miscellaneous Info:
🏈 Congratulations, Apex Cougars
For the first time in 30 years, the Pop Warner Super Bowl returned to North Carolina (Charlotte) last weekend. And our very own 12u Cougars made it to the big game. While they came up a little short in the championship game, these kids are big time winners nonetheless. I shared a video prior to the game that shares more of the story on these kids who went 9-0 during the season and have 12 players who earned All-American Scholar honors. Check it out here.
🩰 Infinity Ballet Needs Your Help
Infinity Ballet, a non-profit dance studio for over 23 years, is facing a financially devastating challenge. Last week the entire studio flooded overnight, and all floors - including the specialized sprung subfloors - must be completely removed. The floor layers are secured with thousands of screws and nails, making it a time-consuming and costly process. To reduce costs and speed up repairs, they are looking for volunteers this Saturday, December 13 to assist with the removal of the subfloor screws. Doors open at 9am. Pizza lunch provided. Bring a drill if you have one. Located at 3462 Apex Peakway.
🎺 Apex High Band Winter Concert
The Apex High School Concert & Jazz Bands Winter Concert takes place this coming Tuesday, December 16 from 6:30pm-9pm in the AHS Auditorium. Admission is free.
🏆️ Accredited with Honors
The Wake County Public Health Department has been recognized as accredited with honors by the North Carolina Local Health Department Accreditation Board, achieving a perfect score by meeting 147 of 147 accreditation standards. This distinction highlights the department's unwavering commitment to excellence in public health service and community well-being.
🧑🏫 Teachers of the Year
Congratulations to the 2025-26 Wake County Schools Teachers of the Year. See each school’s winner here.
📮 Mail Letters to Santa
If you need a place to drop off your letters to Santa, there is a mailbox tied directly to the North Pole in front of Stylish Living.
📝 Correction: Dorcas Ministries / NeighborUp
Last week, I shared that now through January 19, the Town of Apex is collecting donations that benefit Dorcas Ministries. A few readers reached out to me to inform me that the new name is NeighborUp. In the past, Apex typically collected donations for Western Wake Crisis Ministry. And Dorcas Ministries was in Cary. Just recently, Dorcas Ministries and Western Wake Crisis Ministry merged together and rebranded as NeighborUp. In my defense, the Apex website says “Dorcas Ministries” and the Apex newsletter says Dorcas and the Senior Center newsletter says Dorcas. Thank you to those who reached out to educate me on this merger! Nonetheless, see the full list of items needed and dropoff locations here.

Transit Plan: The council voted to remove the commuter rail line from the future transit map (deemed not financially viable) and replace it with a bus transit center near the future Wake Tech campus.
