Intro - I Say Lot A Lot

Well, it’s springtime and you can definitely tell. Not just because there’s a lot of pollen. But, noticeably, an increase in events and activities going on too!

For example, did you know that the Moore Street Lot now has 72 parking spaces? That’s a lot more than the 10 or so that it used to be.

We also have Peak City Pig Fest right around the corner, followed not a lot later by PeakFest. And a whole lot of cool stuff in between.

There’s a lot going on!

So let’s keep the intro short and not say a whole lot, and jump right in.

Miscellaneous:

🗑️ Shred Day
Twice each year, during the Spring and Fall, the police department encourages all residents help keep identity theft away by bringing unwanted papers containing personal information to be shredded, free of charge. The Spring date is this Saturday, April 5, from 8-11am at 105 Upchurch Street.

☢️ Siren Testing Day
Next Wednesday, April 9, will be the quarterly Harris Plant siren test. This will occur in the morning and last from 5-30 seconds.

🚧 Spring Road Maintenance
Spring road maintenance projects begin soon. Is your neighborhood affected? Find out here.

🥚 Egg Hunting
There are several town-organized egg hunt events coming up for kids and teens through the Parks & Rec department. See the full list here.

🌯 National Burrito Day
It’s not cheating on your diet if it’s a holiday. Check your favorite burrito spot for some good deals today.

📱 The Second Best Way to Stay Informed
In case you missed it, Mr. Mayor dropped a shiny new app. The app allows you to view events, connect with the Mayor directly, and a plethora of other cool features to stay engaged. Some people say it’s almost as cool as The Peak Weekly! 😜

🥂 Happy Anniversary to J&S Pizza

🥂 Happy Anniversary to Southern Peak Brewery
On their way to 30 years as well… celebrate 9 years with Southern Peak Brewery on Saturday from 11am until 8pm with a refreshing drink and some delicious food from Presti Pizza! Event info

🧑‍🌾 Let’s Support the Farmer’s Market This Weekend
This Saturday, April 5th, is Opening Day (for Spring) at the Farmer’s Market. This means that the market now starts at 8am (instead of 9am) and calls for a celebration!

This Saturday, Come Enjoy:

🧺 All of the amazing vendors
🪈 Emma Morris, City of Oaks Flute Ensemble
🧚 Fhairy Sparkles
🐯 Sparkly (temporary) Tattoos
🧑‍🎨 Kids Art Activity (Wine & Design Tent)
🪴 Live Plants from the Apex Garden Club (Community Tent)

🔦 And now lets spotlight these great opening-day vendors:
(and what I know about them)

🦐 Apex Seafood & Market
I often buy seafood from here. Big selection. All very fresh. Can’t beat it. Hit this one early!

💐 Shoome's Flowers
You know I’m a fan of Golden Flora in The Studio, but Shoome’s Flowers is top-notch too! She puts together beautiful arrangements. The wife grabs an arrangement from here almost every time we go.

🍅 Po Hous Farm
This is the spot to grab your fresh produce. They also have a cool little farm stand at 2300 Richardson Rd if you ever miss them at the Market.

🥚 Triple Arrow Farm
I love supporting the local farms and Triple Arrow is no different. They will have chicken, lamb and eggs on opening day.

🥖 Lady's Bakery
I’m not really a bread person. I mean, it’s fine, but it’s just bread. Right? Wrong. She has regular sourdough, everything bagel, and this incredible pizza sourdough. I think there’s a jalapeno-something also. Make sure you stop here!

🫙 Spreadable Delights
I’m ashamed to say that I might not be familiar with this one. From their listing on the Market’s website: “Spreadable Delights is your best source for delicious, wholesome, and fresh jams, preserves, and jellies, along with salsa and medicinal oils.”

🧂 Sizzlin Arrow Outdoors, LLC
This is where you stop to grab your spices and rubs. I have the Steak, Chicken & Fish and BBQ ones. I use them regularly. Word on the street is a lemon pepper coming soon.

🧆 Hummus Y'all
I’m a hummus snob and these guys have definitely cracked the code. Great, fresh, delicious hummas… y’all.

🍰 Desserts by Shirley
Want to meet the nicest person in the world? Stop by to see Miss Shirley and grab a bunch of her mouth-watering desserts.

🟩 Green Health First
I am not familiar with Green Health First. But it sounds pretty self-explanatory!

🍷 Wine & Design
Stop by here for the kids art activity and see what all they are about! I do know they often have events for adults and children alike.

🐉 Apex 3D Prints
I bought my son a really cool 3D printed dragon here before. It was awesome and really well made.

🕯️ SOWL
Stop by to grab some all-natural candles with air-purifying beeswax & essential oils.

🪨 Signature Stones
I’m not 100% sure what Signature Stones is but lets show up on Saturday and find out together!

🧵 Kybele Handmade LLC
Looking for something unique... and handmade? Well… go here!

🍁 Glenda's Creations
From the listing on the Market’s website: “Offering one-of-a-kind framed paintings utilizing tree leaves native to North Carolina as canvases for my unique artistic expressions.”

🗒️ Note:
My guy Ian of McGibney Family Farms will not be at Opening Day due to a personal conflict, however, he will be back on April 12. (Triple Arrow Farm will have chicken, lamb and eggs on opening day - and they’re awesome too!)

Civil News:
